U.S. District Judge Percy Anderson ordered Iza's sentence to run concurrently with a 15-year prison term he is already serving for a kidnapping and attempted robbery in Connecticut in August 2024. This means Iza will not serve additional time beyond his current sentence.

During the proceedings, Iza pleaded guilty to conspiracy against rights, wire fraud, and tax evasion. At least five former sheriff’s deputies have already been sentenced in connection with the case. Iza agreed to forfeit luxury items, including vehicles and designer handbags, as part of his plea agreement.

Prosecutors had sought a nearly five-year sentence, emphasizing the need to deter others from corrupting law enforcement. Judge Anderson considered Iza's difficult childhood, including displacement from Iraq, poverty, and abuse, in his sentencing decision.

Iza admitted to hiring off-duty deputies from August 2021 to April 2022 to obtain confidential information on individuals with whom he had disputes. He also directed deputies to intimidate victims, and in one instance, deputies unholstered firearms while Iza demanded a victim transfer $25,000. He further admitted to orchestrating a plan that led to one victim's arrest on drug charges.

In another admitted act, Iza held a victim at gunpoint and forced the transfer of $127,000. He also admitted to directing an employee to assault a victim to obtain a laptop believed to contain cryptocurrency, and in a separate incident, armed individuals forced their way into a victim's home at his direction to seize the device.
